This Is Where It All Began

I thought it was time I told you where it all REALLY began. I have had quite a bit of new followers lately and wanted to share a part of my life with you that some people don’t know.

Nathan and I haven’t had our official engagement pictures done yet because I wanted to wait until everything was blooming and really green so in the mean time I thought that it would be fun for us to get some photos taken where everything began for the two of us.

We both really wanted to do something that showcased us. Something that really mean’t a lot to the two of us. As much as I used to say I really didn’t love this school, it holds a special place in my heart.

When I was a freshman I decided to join the sports med team. I wasn’t really sure what I was getting myself into but I knew it would be an adventure for sure. There were so many long days and long nights spent with some of the most incredible and entertaining people. I loved being able to watch these boys grow and see them turn into true men. I loved the bonds created with the guys and how a lot of them turned into big brothers for me.

But, there was always one boy who stood out to me the most. Nathan Waller. He was certainly the most entertaining and goofy guy out there. I couldn’t walk by him on the field without him making some sort of joke that eventually turned into flirting. Back then I was so oblivious to his intentions behind all the joking. Still to this day he will look at me and say “Didn’t you know I was flirting with you and trying to get your attention?”. He’s just the cutest when he talks about those days.

One of our other sports med girls, Grace, would always tell me that one day Nathan and I would date. I always looked at her and laughed it off thinking yeah right we’re just friends! Little did I know, she would eventually be right. We became more than just friends.

It took us a few years to really get together. It was his senior year and I was a junior. We didn’t really start “dating” until the beginning of December. I was still in the stage of thinking we were just friends and nothing more than that. He would get so upset with me when I wouldn’t invite him to certain things those first few months. I mean I didn’t really think twice about it!

Finally after months of me being unsure about what we were, he officially asked me to be his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day. It has been a rollercoaster for sure and a TON of growing up. I didn’t know what would come from that moment on but now he is my soulmate and I get to spend forever with this sweet man of mine.

Ephesians 4:2Β Β “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”

  1. Congratulations. My wife and I got married 17 years ago. We first dated 5 years prior to that and without even planning it, we didn’t realize that I asked her out on Valentine’s Day…just like your story.

  2. Such a sweet story! My roommate and I were just talking the other night about how much we love to hear “how did you meet?” stories. Of course my chances of a high school/college love story have come and gone lol but stories like this make me so happy and hopeful. πŸ™‚

  3. Aww high school sweethearts! I love reading stories like yours. I also love how you guys started off as friends. This is a super cute idea to do a photo shoot where you two met. I’ll have to keep that in mind for when I get engaged πŸ™‚ Best of luck, and I’m sure your engagement pictures will turn out just as amazing as these did!
